Elizabeth Taylor in Iran at the LACMA

Who doesn't love Elizabeth Taylor? If it's not her violet eyes, then you have to be intrigued by her lengthy string of marriages. That's why when I heard that the Los Angeles County Museum of Art was opening an exhibition of photographs from Taylor's first and only trip to Iran, I couldn't help but be excited.Prominent Hollywood photographer Firooz Zahedi was just an art school student in Washington D.C. when he met Taylor in 1976. The pair went to all of the main tourist sites in Iran for Taylor's photo shoot, including ancient Persepolis. Dressed in an ancient tribal outfit from the Isfahan Bazaar, the actress posed in photos as an Oriental odalisque. 35 years later, Taylor and Zahedi remain close friends.

Elizabeth Taylor has always, and will always be an American iconic figure. Whether it is her stunning eyes, her string of marriages, her extravagant outfits and fabulous jewelry, she is an adjective on her own. Firooz Zahedi's photography has truly captured her beauty with the architectural and decorative beauty of was use to be Iran. Now, it's nothing but a war zone none the less, and I'm sure all that's been captured in these photos probably do not even exist. I'm very excited for this exhibition. Thank you California Home + Design for posting this!

What a wonderful tribute to an Iconic Star of the 20th Century. Also nice to see a bridge built through time between Iran/Persia and the West.

Rest In Peace Liz ... You Will be Missed.

Ms. Taylor's real talent was in her ability to keep us interested in her long past her golden days on screen and stage. Of living a life fully and investing herself in others and in causes that push humanity forward. It wasn't the jewels or the houses or the men. It was Ms Taylor. Never telling us more than we need to know. Never showing us anything private or privileged that did not contribute to a cause. Never wasting her celebrity on the common or commonplace. Leading a full life without exploiting those of us on the other side of the lens.

Smart. Funny. Dedicated. Beautiful. Private. With faults and failure persistent. Strong minded and appreciative of beauty she recognized her part in our world and did her best to keep it interesting for our benefit. She deserved every spotlight and made the best use of every microphone.

The lights have gone out but the show does indeed go on. The Elizabeth we know and love has not passed on. Her performances remain and her memory lives on.

To her family and lifelong friends, thank you for sharing your treasure for so long.

yes, her memories will live on

I am Indian settled in the US and I come from a part of India that is heavily influenced by Persian food and customs, Hyderabad, in Southern India. Iranians were always so stylish as a people, their grace lies not just in their demeanor and their love of music and the arts but in their conduct of themselves as citizens of the world. Making Liz one of their own yet leaving her to be an iconic world star. Hats off to all and Liz, we'll be watching your movies for comfort for years and years, thank god for that!

very beautiful liz, she must be playing the role of esther, the queen of persia.
