Built in 1922 for Rev. Robert Donaldson, an eminent Bay Area Presbyterian minister, this simple house hits all the marks on the Julia Morgan checklist– picturesque massing, simple repeated elements throughout, and period details. In this house, all the windows are leaded, many are arched, and some have stained glass inserts. But there's nothing over the top, and aside from a little Gothic framing the entrance, the exterior is almost severe. From the back:

Over the years, the owners haven't renovated away the classic details and moldings and they've done a great job on the renovated kitchen:

Morgan designed a number of houses with a discreet side entrance, which made a kind of pinwheel layout possible (see plan below.)
