Open House Obsession: Getting Into Rehab in the Hollywood Hills

1385 Miller Drive, Hollywood Hills, $2.869M
Originally dating back to 1938, it's hard to imagine what was here before, but now there's a 4-story, 3-bed, 3.5-bath house with multiple interlocking levels that seems to fit into the hillside like an Escher drawing. Despite it's simple details, this is not a boring house, and comes with surprises around every corner and differing room volumes. The bath are predictably sybaritic, the master bedroom suite opens to a patio with a salt-water swimming pool around the corner from a media room, and the kitchen is clearly open for business. The house probably could have used an elevator, but at least you won't have to worry about getting your cardio exercises in. Open on Sunday, December 16 from 1:00pm to 4:00pm.
2212 Laurel Canyon Boulevard, Hollywood Hills, $699,118
Laurel Canyon is evocative of a certain creative, offhand Hollywood style and it's full of nifty little houses perched on the edge of the road– put up long before Laurel Canyon Boulevard became a major thoroughfare. Gutted and re-imagined, this 2-bed, 2-bath house was built in 1931. Will this be where you write your screenplay? We're loving the crisp redesign and the opened living room, although those knock-off Arnio bubble chairs are a little disturbing. If they come with the house, check with your insurance agent before using. Open on Sunday, December 16 from 11:00am to 2:00pm.
1526 North Doheny Drive, Hollywood Hills, $1.249M
Built in 1957, this classic-but-generic Mid-Century has managed to retain some of its original dignity, and in some details fits somewhere between the grand Art Deco houses of the '30s and Hollywood Regency. Aside from the master bath–  a wet room that opens to an outdoor hot tub– it's a reasonably sober house. The 2-bed, 2-bath house has an open floor plan and high ceilings, easy access to outdoor space, and we love the den slightly elevated above the living room. But we're puzzled as to why the master bath only has one shower head:
