Jill Brandenburg's professional life is the stuff of wander-lusting, design filled dreams. Originally from Australia, Jill spent many years in London before moving to San Francisco, where she's been for the last four years. She's a designer at heart, and has worked on a huge variety of projects - from working alongside Ann Maurice on the tv show "House Doctor" (the UK's equivalent of "Jeff Lewis"), to designing branding to go on the side of a rocket. Today she's a full time blogger for The Design Lovers Blog, that she writes along with good friend and UK resident Sam.

The Author's Gala hosted a three-course dinner, a live auction, and a presentation with Carolyn Johnson in conversation with author Julie Powell discussing her cooking experiences with Julia Child's Mastering the Art of French Cooking. We love how this project takes a discarded industrial item and turns it into a lovely vintage find! Ladders can be scored for cheap (especially if they're not sturdy anymore) at flea markets and urban recycling centers, and can look pretty darn chic when given with a fresh coat of paint and styled with wisely-chosen accessories.
