CH+D Office Space: Square in San Francisco's Chronicle Building

Jack Dorsey's Square, which may just make old-school registers obsolete with their Square Card Readers, Square Registers and Card Cases, is HQ-ed in the San Francisco Chronicle Building on 5th and Mission. In what some might say is a changing of the guard, the start up's original 10 employees set up shop in the Chronicle's Human Resources floor in December of 2009.
Square's now at more than 100 employees (the people I surveyed guessed the average employee age was about 27), and just expanded their office another 13,000 square feet into the adjacent wing of the Chronicle Building (their total office space is now 26,000 square feet). For our first installment of CH+D Office Space, we take you inside Square's new digs, which were designed by San Francisco design and architecture firm Studio O+A.

Seems like Square is making good use of their funding money, really nice office spaceindeed, a very good culture introduced by valley startups.
i love when these start ups use to buy fancy schmancy and they don't support their local vendors....
would love an office like that - not spending my money...Venture Capital how sweet!

What's with the shoes/boots on the furniture? Otherwise great environment for creativity.
Did anyone see that episode of Portlandia where they all work in that big open space loft? This is what that looks like. LOL.
Looks like a super rad place to work. I love Square for my biz needs! The womb chairs are a nice touch ;-)
launchleads call Brian B. at One Workplace. .
I would love to work at Square...I'd love to consult on their charitable giving. AND be their 'Volunteer Ambassador' in the US and overseas.
Shouldn't all corporations adopt some of the flexibility of tech firms? Great work spaces, little micro-management, letting unique individuals rise to the top and...rewarding them for doing so!
I think the tech guys are an incredible resource of how America move's forward.
Looks like they only hire beautiful people.
And the most beautiful wasn't in the pictures.
lots of thoughtful attention to texture in the group spaces. hope the individual workstations are just as considerate.
i like the company but the design of the space is lackluster. the furniture and chairs look like after thoughts, there is nothing cohesive or grounding in the spaces with the exception of the cubes. all the furniture is cheap and many are knock offs. the space looks like one of those rent and office deals like the company could be out of business in a couple of months. sorry folks, but this is not high design - you are not seeing the details. Look at that sofa in the reception - it;s slouchy and i guarantee in a few more months it will be trashed like a dorm room.
It is very grate job i appreciate you.

Looks great... for those with the attention span of a hummingbird. https://squareup.com/jobs - Notice how many people in the video are being interrupted in mid-thought.
