Heather Ashton of Heather Ashton Design has one of the most exciting resumes we've come across in a long time. Along with starting her own namesake firm, Heather recently completed work on a glam home in LA LIVE's Ritz-Carlton Residences along with the upcoming Tangata restaurant at the Bowers Museum (launching next year). She also recently completed a refresh of the Thompson Beverly Hills Hotel’s guest rooms as well as Caulfield's Bar and Dining room. And her affinity for commercial hospitality work is no accident. While taking a semester off from the University of Florida, she bartended and lived in The Clevelander Hotel on South Beach where she fell madly in love with hotel culture. After working with some of the best in the biz (like hotelier Andre Balazs and award-winning designer Mary McDonald), and a stint as Creative Director for H.D. Buttercup, Heather has honed a playful style that is classic enough to keep hotel guests comfortable but pushes the envelope just enough to be really interesting.
If you’re looking for unique, artisanal and locally-made gifts this season to place under the tree, stuff stockings, or give a host or hostess, plan on heading to The Barlow in Sebastopol.
We asked you to submit and vote on up-and-coming influencers in the design world, and we loved learning about the unique talents of each nominee. The results are in, and we are so thrilled to announce that the 2014 CA Home+Design Awards Tastemaker sponsored by Thos. Moser is the effervescent Lana Gomez!
The remarkable way Lana Gomez pushes the boundaries of color and composition, translating the inspiring world of LA design into vibrant abstract paintings, has more than earned her the title of Design Tastemaker!
