In the heart of the Pays de la Loire region of France is Fontevraud Abbey, one of the largest monastic structures dating from the Middle Ages. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is now home to a design hotel called Fontevraud L'Hôtel. Architect Sanjit Manku and French designer Patrick Jouin of Jouin Manku headed the transformation, which maintains the stunning 12th-century structural details of the abbey—namely the chalky white limestone walls, archways, and soaring ceilings. Scroll to tour its halls now.
