Design Destination: Le Magazyn, The Best Of Brazil In Venice

Part store, part art gallery, Le Magazyn, founded by Sao Paulo native, Ana Kozak and based in Venice, California, just steps from Abbot Kinney, is focused on bringing the best of Brazilian design to the West Coast.

If you’ve never been to the South American country, this beautiful space, forged out of a turn-of-the-last century building and given renewed life with restored brick walls, refinished floors and a rotating selection of beautiful art — currently Amazonia, a selection of mesmerizing landscapes by Brazilian art photographer Betina Samaia — will whet your appetite for a visit.

The shop, whose name is a playful take on both le magasin, the French word for "store" and from magazine, offers a cross-section of original handcrafted home goods, fashion, table-top accessories, one-of-a-kind jewelry, as well as mid-century and contemporary furniture and art.

Growing out of Kozak’s longstanding relationships with magazines, designers and artisans, the unique pieces, ranging from fanciful handmade animal sandals by Paula Ferber to Sergio Rodrigues’ plump and sumptuous Mole Armchair are marked by their high quality and impeccable craftsmanship. The exclusive representative of the prestigious furniture gallery ESPASSO in California and Flavia del Pra’s tiles and tile trays, Le Magazyn’s inviting mix of old and new, organic and modern, is the perfect introduction to Kozak’s next venture: interior design.
