Howard Hawkes and Kevin Kemper, principals of H3K, have quickly made their voice heard in the Palm Springs design community. Whether working to preserve the mid-century lifestyle, designing a community of micro-homes or running their 12,000-square-foot H3K Home showroom, they have the designer desert covered. Here, they share their secret sources.

The Estate Sale Co., the granddaddy of them all, has been around for a long time, o ering treasures at every turn that are very reasonably priced. Howard recently bought a framed Nagel print to bring back the 1980s!”

“A new player to the market, The Art Room has a carefully curated collection of vintage modern and contemporary art, furniture and objets d’art. We have been eyeing a vintage print once owned by Elvis Presley for H3K’s renovation of the King’s Palm Springs residence.”

“Located in Albert Frey’s Kocher-Sampson building, Bon Vivant offers a wide variety of decor from the 1930s to the 1980s. We personally love and shop their huge variety of modern glassware (one of the largest selections in the Coachella Valley).

“We love the mix of vintage and new art at At-Hom, which is a large store with a wide variety of furniture and art.”

“At Pelago, owners Mark and Bill curate an amazing collection of contemporary furniture and accessories. It is our go-to spot for tabletop accessories. Their Chilewich collection is particularly outstanding.”

“The Backstreet Art District is exactly what it is called—a backstreet with a handful of galleries and shops o en operated by the artists themselves. We love using art by local artists in our installations.”
