In the interiors world, Kelly Wearstler, and in the fashion world, Alexander McQueen.

3. What is the best way to gauge a client’s personality before starting a project?
The best way to gauge a client’s personality before starting a project is via casual conversation. Talking about life in general is a great way to preview your client’s persona.

4. What new design trends are you excited to integrate into your work?
Copper!

5. How do you completely unwind?
I completely unwind with a high intensity workout! Barry’s Bootcamp is my favorite. The other extreme is a day at Indian Springs in Calistoga...it’s the only way to feel like I’ve gone on vacation in one day!

6. If you hadn't become a designer, which career would you have pursued?
If I hadn’t become a designer, I probably would have pursued a career related to music. I really enjoy creating experiences and music is another great way to do so. Other than music, I might have pursued a career in food for the same reasons.

7. What’s the worst pre-designer job you’ve ever had and why?
I worked at a Bebe clothing store in college. It was great for my closet but really bad for making money. We were given a 40% discount so I basically recycled all my money back into the store.

8. Who has your favorite client been and why?
My favorite client is The Scott family. I love them as people and I love their respect for the design process. They let me create my visions.
