Designer Crush: Nicole Fuller

1. Who is your biggest role model?

My mother. My mother has been my biggest inspiration. She’s incredibly creative, loving and beyond talented in every way.

2. Which movie or play do you wish you could have designed the set for?

Gone With The Wind. It’s one of my favorite movies.

3.  What is the best way to gauge a client’s personality before starting a project?

I’m very much a people person and tend to connect with people right away. For me, from one or two key words a client might say to design their aesthetic or even one picture of an interior. I can get a very good sense of what they’re looking for to get a gauge on their expectation. It’s very important for me to really listen to a client and their family in the space to make it feel like a home. If you truly listen to people you hear everything.

4. What new design trends are you excited to integrate into your work?

I don’t follow trends. I think it’s important to create classic and timeless designs for my clients, although, I love sourcing new products, textiles, and designing new pieces for my furniture line, Isabella Wolfe. Therefore each interior I do is custom, unique and very fresh for each client so it’s always a signature Nicole Fuller Interiors feel.

5. How do you completely unwind?

Lying on a beach somewhere beautiful, listening to the sea with friends and family.

6. If you hadn't become a designer, which career would you have pursued?

Film directing. I would love to do big productions similar to Baz Luhrmann or David Fincher.

7. What’s the worst pre-designer job you’ve ever had and why?

I’ve been lucky enough to have a career path with no regrets and it was a stepping stone to where I am now.

Lightning round!

9. Would you rather shop new or vintage?
