On Thursday, September 24th, 2015, the San Francisco Symphony welcomed the 2015-2016 season with an opening gala to remember. Along with a performance from Kelsey Grammer, baritone Nathan Gunn, and soprano Alexandra Silber, the gala also featured star conductor Michael Tilson Thomas opening with Respighi's Roman Festivals, among many other things. Chaired by Dagmar and Natasha Dolby, proceeds from the Opening Gala benefit the Orchestra's myriad community and education programs, which provide music education to more than 75,000 Bay Area school children each year.
