The projects were judged on aesthetic appeal, functionality of the space, fulfilling the needs of the client, paying special attention to detail and following the planning requirements of the National Kitchen and Bath Association Planning Guidelines and Drawing Standards. Thanks go to the panel of certified design professionals from our sister San Diego Chapter that judged the entries and selected the winners. The goal of this project was to design an aesthetically beautiful yet highly functional outdoor barbecue in a galley-like corridor space. The barbecue area is located between the back door of the kitchen and the entrance to the outdoor entertainment area.
Barbecue cabinetry tends to be cold stainless steel, built into stucco or stone to match the exterior of a home. In this project, the custom door design and high gloss yacht finish lighten the space, making it feel larger than it is. The custom stainless steel inserts, refrigerators, and ample storage elevate the functionality of the cooking space.
