This home won the 2012 CH+D Award for Residential Interior Design (Less than 3,000 Sq. Ft.). San Francisco designer Jay Jeffers views his personal abode as a place to experiment. “It’s an opportunity to try things that didn’t fly with past clients or to create fresh looks that will inspire new ones,” he says. Until a recent move, Jeffers’ residential laboratory for nearly 10 years was a 1915 Edwardian cottage in SF’s Eureka Valley that he shared with his husband, Michael Purdy. The colorful two-bedroom house had undergone two earlier iterations under Jeffers’ discerning eye, but it wasn’t until its latest reinterpretation that its crown moldings and trims dramatically changed from traditional white to shades of sumptuous gray.
