It's hard to believe Erin Ward's colorful home was in Venice was once a four-unit apartment building. Ward worked with architect Damian Le Mons, founder of Monolith Design Group, who traded the four identical stacked kitchens for one and removed the ceiling panels in order to give the soaring rooms a loft-like feel. Interior designer Vanessa De Vargas infused the house with whimsical patterns and candy-inspired colors.
Guests are always welcome at the home of Ward and her daughter, Sophie, and drop by often for casual afternoon cocktails, kiddie dates at the pool and holiday get-togethers. Outdoor fireplace: Malm Fire Places, Santa Rosa.
Designer De Vargas had the homeowner's vintage furniture reupholstered to reflect the home’s playful style, such as an oversized tufted ottoman recovered in royal blue fabric that holds court in the center of the living room. Architectural elements inspired by lofts and warehouse—exposed wood panels, steel beams and nuts and bolts—are softened by the colorful palette.
