Interior designer Taylor Jacobson creates a collected eclectic space for a South Pasadena family
That feeling of being collected is emphasized in the way that Jacobson works. Though some designers like to do a ‘turnkey installation’, saving up all the pieces they purchased in a warehouse and slotting them all into place over an intense day or two, Jacobson prefers to integrate new pieces as they come in. It can be challenging for a client — lacking a designer’s eye they may not understand how a piece will work within the bigger picture — but as the process goes along, their excitement increases. By the end, they’re happy to have been along for the ride. “There’s a lot of hand holding at the beginning; you have to reassure them that it’s all going to come together.”
