A High-Rise Neighborhood: Tour Yelp's New HQ

Although most high tech companies like large open floor plates, Yelp was drawn to the historic charm of the former Pacific Telephone + Telegraph headquarters. This landmark was completed in 1925 and designed by Timothy Pfleuger, one of San Francisco's most talented and prolific architects from the first half of the 20th century. It was the first significant high rise South of Market and the largest office building on the West coast when it was finished. When Yelp moved from a smaller site to the high-rise, design firm Studio o+a was faced with a challenge. How do you facilitate group dynamics so that people interact with each other even though they work on different floors? Here are the results.
