A Modern Transformation

One can get a sense of this architectural transformation from the front of the house. Before, two traditional bay windows with tiny divided panes overlooked the street from the second floor. Now, two immense windows—acid-etched at the bottom for privacy—cantilever out, embracing views of the city, and on good days, even the ocean. The new entrance to the house, under the right-hand cantilevered box, is reached by walking through an open courtyard.
