Next Gen Victorian in San Francisco

When Eliza Hart of Hart Wright Architects was hired to remodel this classic San Francisco Victorian in the Cole Valley neighborhood, she was delighted to find good bones and little damage to the house that had been lovingly cared for by the same family for many years before her clients purchased it. That said, there were challenges in the kitchen and bathroom, which were in near original condition—meaning they lacked modern amenities. The architect, a modernist who studied at UCLA, didn't think twice about re-imagining the rooms as contemporary spaces within the old house—and neither did her like-minded clients.
