A Presidential Dining Room

When interior designer Liz Bruckstein, principal at Lizette Marie Interior Design, took on the redesign of this large house in Los Gatos, she had no idea that President Barack Obama would soon take a seat at the dining room table she created with local sculptor Adam Gale. “At the time, we didn’t know that the family would host a fundraiser for the President,” she says. “But after it was scheduled, we had to scramble to get the piece ready.” Her job was to create a home that fit a large family and their relatives, who take turns visiting. “They have at least 12 members in the extended family,” Bruckstein says. “We wanted to give every one space and privacy.” The end result is a home fit for everyone from a distant cousin to the Leader of the Free World.
