Open House Obsession: Marmol-Raziner Reinvents a 1905 Shingle Style House in Mill Valley, $4.5M

Where: 29 Roosevelt Avenue, Mill Valley
When: Sunday, June 15 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm
How Much: Asking $4.498M, down from the $4.995M when listed in February.
What: A 5-bed, 4.5-bath gambrel roofed and shingled house built in 1905, completely overhauled a few years ago by the influential Santa Monica architectural firm of Marmol-Raziner. Corten steel– which rusts naturally over time– clads the balcony and dormers and cotrasts with the subtle grey-green shingles:

Below, the kitchen and dining room. Throughout the house the rosewood cabinets were produced in-house at Marmol-Raziner's own woodworking facility in Santa Monica.

More rosewood in the master bedroom and office. From closets to cupboards to bookshelves, more than $300K was spent on custom rosewood cabinet work here.
