Painter Suhas Bhujbal is known for painting buildings, houses, and storefronts with vibrant colors and geometric patterns. Now viewers can get a glimpse of some of these intriguing artworks, along with paintings of people, in a new show at San Francisco’s Dolby Chadwick Gallery. Titled Dialogues, the exhibition features several of Bhujbal’s large-scale oil paintings. Runs through April 27, Dolby Chadwick Gallery, 210 Post Street, Suite 205.
Matthew Brandt is captivated by water, which comes through in his unique and beautiful artworks. Using water from actual lakes, waterfalls, and reservoirs, Brandt manipulates photographic emulsion to create images that harken the American West. Jeffrey Deitch named Brandt one of Forbes magazine’s “Top 30 Under 30 in Art and Design.” Several of his pieces of art can be seen in his new solo show titled Water & Polaroid at San Francisco’s Highlight Gallery. California College of the Arts is hosting a Dutch design speaker series titled Seeing Orange (top image). The series will feature lectures, workshops, and discussions based on the Dutch approach to industrial design, graphic design, and architecture. Speakers include Kas Oosterhuis, Cobbenhagen Hendriksen, and Maarten Baptist. Most all of these talks are free and open to the public. Seeing Orange speaker series runs from April 8 to April 12, California College of the Arts, 1111 8th Street.
