Insider Vintage Shopping with Chairish: Los AngelesAuthor:Lindsey Shook
Where is your favorite area of LA to shop vintage?
Los Angeles has these incredible microclimates of style; it’s not all one thing by any stretch. Venice feels breezy beachy boho with nubby textiles and mixed elements like wood, wicker, and leather all in a light and airy palate. West Hollywood epitomizes high gloss fabulosity with big doses of ’70’s sleek in shiny lacquers, smoked mirror, brass and chrome. Silver Lake is hipster all the way with a mix of lived-in mid-century, handmade artisanal elements and downright retro accents served with a big dollop of wit! Pasadena style feels slightly preppy and gracious and of course, Downtown LA is developing its own aesthetic with an urban look that is both industrial, com- fortable and not too serious.
Neo Vintage – Tucked away in a short strip of furniture boutiques, Neo Vintage is small in stature but big on charm. The focus here is classic style with a wink!
Midcentury LA – Led by dashing raconteur David Pierce, Midcentury LA offers an enormous selection of Scandinavian modern furniture, large-scale photography by Jock McDonald and (coming soon) restored vintage Mercedes 280SL to boot!
