The Bird House
Modern design lovers will appreciate this Hugh Newell Jacobsen hilltop home, his only project in Northern California. The design combines American vernacular architecture with Jacobsen’s clean design components and signature white palette.
Indoors and outdoors blend seamlessly with an open floor plan and walls of glass. The tour includes a visit to the outbuilding, The Bird House, which promises more design inspirations.
Black Is The New Farmhouse
Many of the tour homes will inspire green construction like this dramatic modern farmhouse. The PaperStone kitchen countertops are made to LEED standard with 100% post-consumer recycled paper formulated to create a non-porous, durable surfaces. The Henrybuilt cabinets contain a high percent of FSC certified wood.
Visitors will get a taste of the ultimate Wine Country getaway with the property’s separate guest house, pool with outdoor shower, and the home’s well-appointed butler pantry and wine room.
Each of the homes inspire outdoor living with inviting pools, dining and lounging areas, and beautifully landscaped gardens. Home and garden designer Josh Chandler combines his talents with this corrugated tin barn home in the heart of downtown St. Helena. Situated in a residential area, Chandler creates an oasis in a small space. An airy glass atrium connects the entertaining areas in the two wings of the home.
The rustic exterior is complemented by the warm earthy materials used in the interior design such as recycled or locally sourced timber, stone, and brick. The baths feature antique shower assemblies, faucetry, and sinks.
Outdoors, Chandler carved out five distinct spaces around a central court that’s flanked by 14-foot recycled steel fireplaces that he designed. The seating was made from old train trestle logs.
