Eat, Shop and be Merry at Soul Food Farm’s Annual Antique Marketplace This WeekendAuthor:Philip Ferrato
With over three dozen vendors of vintage style and fabulous food, this is the fourth year for the low-key Solano County event. Only about an hour from the Bay Bridge on i-80 East (a few exits before Vacaville) Soul Food Farm is the Koefed family’s pioneering Solano County agriturismo, producing its own olive oil, lavender products, flowers, and eggs from pastured chickens amidst a yearlong calendar of events. What to expect? In addition to a flock of friendly chickens and blissful acres of olive trees and flowers to roam through, the area’s vintage and antiques dealers in the area bring out their best wares for this event.
There will be cut flowers and plants from various growers like neighboring Morningsun Herb Farm, and if shopping makes you tired/hungry/cranky, an array food stands will come to your rescue. Among the vendors, Bernal Height’s famed Avedano’s Holly Park Market will be making pulled pork sandwiches and Eatwell Farms will have their delicious Drinkwell Natural Sodas. And since it’s a farm, there will vegetarian options plus baked goods and strong coffee.
