Design Destination: Aussie Collective, G’Day USA’s LA Pop-UpAuthor:Abigail Stone
We love many things about Australia. Those crazy accents. Their slang. That they put pineapples on their burgers. And of course the many actors that’ve made their way across the Pacific (Just the Hemsworth brothers would be enough to convince us, but then they’ve also generously shared Hugh Jackman, Nicole Kidman, Eric Bana, Heath Ledger, Rose Byrne, Naomi Watts, Margot Robbie…the list goes on and on)
Unfortunately, there’s that 8,000 mile distance to contend with. If you can’t stomach the fourteen hour flight (though if you do, we’ve heard American Airlines is the airline to choose), we’ve got good news. G’Day USA has just launched a Aussie Collective, a pop-up at Westfield Century City. If you haven’t yet had the opportunity to visit the mall since its Kelly Wearstler-burnished renovation, consider this the perfect opportunity.
Celebrating its 15thyear and running through the end of January, G’Day USA — where the U.S. and Australia meet – hosts ‘Aussie Collective’ for the first time, introducing quintessential Aussie fashion and lifestyle brands to Los Angeles.
The boutique features clothing, active wear, shoes and accessories, to home goods and beauty/wellness products, from a number of emerging and established brands including Gorman (bright womenswear), Kirrikin (soft patterned scarves), Teamm8 (quality men’s activewear), Kip + Co (soft, inviting linens), Incy (designer furniture for adults and children), MJ Bale (beautifully tailored menswear), Pared Eyewear (fashion forward eyewear), Vie Active (women’s high-performance active and athleisure wear), Wild Pony (flattering swimwear), Swisse (vitamins and supplements), and Elyptol (natural wipes and sanitizers that rely on the cleaning power of eucalyptus). And, of course, there’s a coffee bar serving Flat Whites!
Extra incentive to visit comes in the fact that visitors will be entered into a drawing for a luxurious trip to Oz, sponsored by Sirromet Winery, that includes wakeboarding, wine tastingss, V8 Supercar experiences, and much more. The month long visit also includes a yoga class(January 14), a concert on Australia Day, January 26th, and a showing of the new animated feature, Peter Rabbit (January 28th)
