A Perfect Respite In Marina Del Rey

When Ranjan Goswami, one of the youngest senior executives in the history of Delta Airlines, wanted to reinvent his home in Marina Del Rey, he turned to Dan Mazzarini of BHDM design.

Goswami has a big job– he oversees commercial strategy and customer experience for Delta’s largest West Region hub at LAX, including the airline’s growth to nearly 180 daily flights to 70 destinations; its community, civic and public engagement; and its $1.9 billion plan for the Delta Sky Way at LAX. He wanted a more sophisticated look at home, as well as a respite from his busy schedule and frequent travel.

Dan Mazzarini, the founder and principal designer at BHDM Design, thinks of himself as a storyteller, translating the lives of his residential clients into warmly soulful interiors, or infusing  a profound sense of place and mission into his corporate projects.

Mazzarini deployed a palette of deep greys and whites and a wide repertoire of natural materials, mixed with vintage and new art reflecting Goswami’s lifelong fascination with air travel. All about contrast, it’s a setting that manages to be both wildly eclectic– and calm–at the same time.

Putting things together is an art. Above, an outscaled woven wood basket, simple cabinet details and a Santa Clara pottery bowl. Below, another view of the living room. To see more, follow Dan Mazzarini on Instagram.
