Teak slats in the shower floor and a custom teak vanity complement the cedar tub and soothing walls while La Paz stones and a concrete-like porcelain tile cover the floor, radiating heat. Brass faucets by Watermark add a modern elegance throughout the space, creating a timeless naturalistic design.

Handmade celadon green and bronze tiles by Kismet and Heath Ceramics cover the walls. “The windows overlook a forest of trees, so we took cues from there as well to create a space that felt like it was immersed in the outdoors,” says Yoo.

The tub evokes the style of a luxury spa. “She asked us to dream up a space that allowed them to relax and escape from the demands of everyday life,” says Yoo. Feng shui and color psychology were utilized in the design philosophy in order to help the client further achieve a state of tranquility.

Bay Area design firm Atelier Cho Thompson received a dream design project when tasked with renovating the master bathroom for a couple who have lived in both Japan and Korea, two countries known for taking bathing very seriously.
