As well as updating the public rooms, Hope-Kennedy also worked on the private spaces. In the master bath, teak flooring is paired with porcelain tiles from Artistic Tile for the shower floor and Afyon Grey marble, also from Artistic Tile, for the walls and tub frame, creating a spa-like oasis. Back-to-back vanities and a dressing room area further enhance this area’s luxe feel. The clients, needless to say, were thrilled with the result.

In the newly opened up space, the fireplace needed to be rethought so Hope-Kennedy adopting the same large-scale tiles she used for the foyer, creating visual cohesiveness between the entryway and the living room. “The wall looks like a piece of art,” Hope-Kennedy says, “it not only brings in a unique texture, it helps to reflect light”.

Learning that the couple had gotten engaged in Healdsburg, Hope-Kennedy rifled through her great-grandfather’s negatives of the city, presenting them with printed and framed images for their living room. The sofa is from Pottery Barn, the rug is from NIDO Living.

Modern silhouettes and a tranquil color palette keep the home warm and inviting while European White Oak Engineered flooring, Maxfine Calacatta marble countertops, and Tom Dixon copper light fixtures wash the home with a subtle, natural glamor. “A big challenge was creating an open floor plan with a dual-purpose kitchen — one that could be used for entertaining and as a family-gathering space. As a result, we designed a kitchen that opens to the living room with a countertop island. It also features a cozy, light-filled breakfast nook," says Hope-Kennedy.

Reconfiguring the floor plan created a great room with an open kitchen. Large windows fill the space with light. The newly expansive kitchen make it a natural magnet for friends and entertaining.

“I work with clients to create healthy interiors that maximize natural light and fresh air and create spaces that have good circulation and an open flow,” says Hope-Kennedy. The sofa is from Room & Board.

The clients, a growing family of three, was interested in updating their dated ranch-style house and transforming it into a functional, contemporary light-filled space where they could welcome friends and family. They found Hope-Kennedy on Houzz and hired her to reconfigure their home’s interior.
