Vibrant wallpaper adds a extra playful note to the kids’ rooms. “The client was wonderfully adventurous with the wall coverings, which gave us a great springboard for a lot of the fabrics and furnishing we chose.”

“A large master bedroom is great opportunity for a four-poster bed, as it creates a cozy and inviting refuge,” Sklar counsels. “The bed also helps to define the space, adding an architectural element as well. Sklar, herself the mother of two children, understands that a home must be functional, livable, and above all, comfortable. The new design allows the family to hang out together even while engaged in solitary activities.

To transform the interior into a home more in keeping with the needs of modern life, the family turned to interior designer Amy Sklar, known for her eclectic style and effortless merging of modern and classic aesthetics. Sklar worked with Bestor Architecture to remove walls, combining kitchen, breakfast nook and family room into one welcoming and light-filled space.
