Real Estate Report: Watch the 34th America’s Cup Race from your own penthouse, $5.1M

The 34th America’s Cup Race is coming to San Francisco Bay, with preliminary races beginning in 2012 and the Cup race in in the Summer of 2013. For $5.1M you can see much of the race course from your living room.

The Basics: A 2-bedroom, 3.5 bath condominium apartment plus a formal dining room, a study and three balconies on the 41st floor of the Infinity, asking $5.1M. Not So Basic: With floor-to-ceiling glass and panoramic views north, east, and south, this 3200 +/- square-foot apartment occupies a half-floor in a new South Beach building by international architectural firm Arquitectonica. As for the price, the same apartment, one floor above, sold last Fall for $5.2M, and unlike units on the opposite side of the building (facing west) the views here won’t be blocked by newer development.

Although the staging here appears computer-generated, the views look reasonably real. The perfect place to view at least half the race’s course with a hundred of your closet friends and spend the rest of the time in splendid ivory-tower isolation watching the container ships arrive in Oakland from China. The kitchen (middle left, above) has a long curving wall of glass and a sheltered terrace, plus a dining area. The living room and master bedroom each have small square balconies. Of course, the usual deeded parking, gym and  pool; monthly maintenance is $957. If you’re curious for more, here’s a PDF of the apartment’s floor plan, and even at $5.1M you’ll probably want to move a few walls around.

The new restaurant Prospect is on the ground floor. You’ll probably be able to convince them to deliver.
