Real Estate Report: Live Like an Actress-Gardener in Los Angeles

We look at enough real estate listings online to make our eyes bleed, but not all of it is over-the-top and expensive. Here’s a listing in the Mount Washington neighborhood of Los Angeles that’s unpretentious, personal, totally livable— not staged— and set in great garden.

The Basics: A 3-bed, 2-bath, 2-car garage brick cottage built in 1932, asking $699K.

Not So Basic: It’s owned by actress Lorraine Toussaint, and not surprisingly, her  IMDb entry mentions her interest in design and her gardening expertise. The house showed up earlier this week at Curbed LA, and it’s our idea of a perfect LA hideaway (as long as it has room for a pool.) She’s made the house as much about living outdoors as in. And we have a feeling there have been some great parties here.

The property’s got patios and pergolas and arbors and more than a few places to lounge:

The kitchen’s been well-edited. And who wouldn’t want to hang out in this breakfast nook:

And the master bath has both indoor and outdoor showers. Genius:

The front of the property, below, and the garden at the top of the steps:

More great images at the listing’s dedicated site. And if you’re in Los Angeles on Sunday, April 3, there’s an open house from 2 to 5PM.

Listing: 1025 Olancha Drive, Los Angeles [Redfin]
