Open House Obsession: Bay View Wreck Gets a New Life, Now $1.5M

Where: 226 Stanford Avenue, Kensington
Where: Sunday, November 2nd from 2:00pm to 4:00pm
Asking: $1.498M
What: Built in 1928, this 6-bed, 3.5-bath house was in sad condition when designer Sean Gaston and Jim Jewell of Bee Renovated got their hands on it– and gave it a complete overhaul, but clearly the 4-bridge view of San Francisco Bay was one of the enticements:

Previous owners had obliterated most of the original ’20s interior, so the living room’s classic mantlepiece is new, and the columns are architectural salvage:

In the otherwise entirely new kitchen, the original china cabinet in the kitchen been stripped down and given a new life with a marble top:

What We Love: That the house has completely new everything– systems, windows, baths and seismic upgrades, plus this intimate sitting area outside the master bedroom, looking out to the bay view:

More: Go to the agent’s site for more images and details, and have a look at Sean and Jim’s iconic Palm Springs house, featured in last year’s Color issue.
