Exuberant Mid-century Modern In Brentwood, $5.75MAuthor:Philip Ferrato
Where: 11808 Kearsarge Street, Brentwood
What: Designed by Haralamb (aka Harlan) Georgescu (1908-1977) a Romanian architect who fled the Communists in 1948, the exuberant 4-bed, 4-bath was brought back to life in 2012 by architect Kurt Krueger, who also added the sympathetic studio/guesthouse structure (at top and below) perched above the driveway.
The double height living room is overlooked by a den, plus a paneled study that leads to the master suite.
Very much in the Bauhaus spirit of Mid-century Los Angeles, the yellow of the fireplace alcove continues on the exterior.
The remodeled kitchen overlooks the pool and opens to a new dining deck.
