Location, Location, Location: The Emerson In Downtown LAAuthor:Philip Ferrato
In a part of town once better known for its parking lots, The Emerson is a luxe new rental tower in the heart of DTLA’s Bunker Hill, where LA’s tradition of spectacular architecture is taking hold again.
Designed by the acclaimed firm Arquitectonica, next to the newly-opened Broad Museum, a block from the Walt Disney Concert Hall (and the Mid-century jewel that’s the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion) the Related Companies project is an amenities-rich residence that’s also refreshing the street-level life with two new restaurants, Vespaio and Otium on the pedestrian plaza facing the Broad.
Forming a discreetly elegant 20-story backdrop to the Broad’s sinuous white grid, the Emerson’s luxurious public and amenity spaces are by Marmol Radziner. At top and below, the residents’ spectacular Penthouse lounge.
The lobby, below, and the library, part of the extensive amenities that include a screening room, pool, a fitness center, and yoga room. There’s also a garage and bike storage.
With units ranging in size from studios to 2-bedrooms, Marmol Radziner specified high-end details more often seen in luxury condominiums. Plus, you get to be the first person to live there.
