Open House Obsession: Architect Forrest Theriot’s Home in The Hollywood Hills, $2.45M

Where: 2544 Greenvalley Road, Sunset Strip/Hollywood Hills West
When: Sunday, April 24th from 2:00pm-4:00pm
Asking: $2,450,000
What: A 3-bed, 3-bath (plus a 1-bed, 1-bath pool house) Post + Beam built in 1954 by architect Forrest Theriot  (1921-2006) for himself and his family, and where he would live for the next five decades. A devout Modernist, Theriot worked for a number of prominent firms in the LA area, including Welton Beckett and Charles Luckman, plus on theme projects at Disneyland. Very much up-to-the moment in 1954, the basic bones are now classic, with high ceilings, perfect indoor-outdoor flow, and secluded patios– and now substantially updated and move-in ready.

At top and below, the sweeping, open living spaces have new concrete floors by artist Russell Metzger.

Like the the rest of the updates, the baths are impeccable.

What We Love: Theriot cleverly sited the pool parallel to the guest house and garage, sinking it slightly below grade and enclosing it with a wall, giving it a garden room of its own.
