Breathtaking Re-Invention in Trousdale Estates, $27.5MAuthor:Philip Ferrato
Where: 335 Trousdale Place, Trousdale Estates/Beverly Hills
What: Over the course of four years, an older home on a spectacular site is given a completely new design vocabulary plus a pool pavilion, opening up the interiors and framing the views.
Almost nothing in this 5-bed, 7-bath residence is off the rack– the level of detail is exceptional. It’s the work of the Mayes Office, one of LA’s outstanding architectural firms in a city that values the best and has a tradition of superb craftsmanship. Below, a detail of the patinated bronze front door.
What We Love: With its mix of exposed structure, dark wood, and stucco, the pool pavilion has a vibe that looks back to the work one of LA’s original Modernists, Rudolph Schindler, and his house in Hollywood– he would have loved the cascade of greenery.
The Design Team: Project design by Colby Mayes, Bronson Haffner and Junsukue Sato of Mayes Office; interiors by Colab House and Studio Collective; Ania Lejman Exteriors and Seasons Landscaping.
More: Check out the Mayes Office website for site and floor plans plus additional images. The property is represented by Rayni and Brandon Williams at Hilton + Hyland.
