Richard Neutra’s Divine Hammerman House, $13.5M

Author:

Where: 201 Bentley Circle, Bel Air/Holmby Hills
Asking: $13,500,000
What: A 4-bed, 5-bath masterwork by one of California’s greatest architects, the transplanted Viennese Modernist Richard Neutra and built in 1954 for a Mr. and Mrs. Hammerman.

Sympathetically restored in the early-2000s by architect John Bertram, a well-regarded expert in Neutra’s work, who also added the previously unbuilt second floor bedroom level following the master’s original drawings.

Paved in slate, the main living space extends from the kitchen to a fireplace alcove, flanked by glass walls with views to both downtown LA and the the pool area. Note the slim, recessed LED light fixture over the dining table.
