Outdoor Inspiration from Elysian Landscapes

Author:

Lately San Francisco has been feeling more like Seattle, with what seems like endless rain spoiling weekend plans, people’s moods–and no doubt more than a few pairs of shoes. It’s enough to make one almost forget the major perk of life in California: Getting to spend the majority of the year enjoying the outdoors.

We say “almost”, because how could you really forget the joys of the outdoor living when your yard or deck is staring you in the face through that rain-spattered window? Instead of trying a reverse rain dance, spend this forced sabbatical figuring out how to make that space work even better for you in the months to come.

And if you need inspiration, take a look at Elysian Landscapes. Based in LA, the firm has designed gardens for Marc Jacobs stores and the Parker Palm Springs, but I’m most taken with their residential work. They’ve made it their mission to help people expand their living space to include the outdoors, and it shows in each lush project in their portfolio–from calming oases to entertaining hotspots and plenty in between. Just promise once you get the garden of your dreams you’ll invite us landless friends over to bask in its beauty–after the rain stops, of course.
