Chairs that Go from Indoors to Outdoors with Ease

Author:

Living in a temperate climate like most of California, it can be worth it to invest in a nice set of outdoor furniture. But depending on the amount of space you have for storage–not to mention any budget constraints–buying solely for your outdoor space isn’t always an option. Instead, try filling your house with a few seating options that can easily make the move from inside to out of doors come the warmer months. Here, a few of my favorite transitional chairs:

Ikea’s Urban chair looks just as good behind a desk as it does gathered around a patio. They’re stackable, made of plastic, and have a hole in the seat for water drainage if you keep them outside. And at only $39.99 apiece, what’s not to love? They’ve been available in a range of colors throughout the years, but this light sky blue is my favorite to date.

These Igloo chairs from CB2 may look a little uncomfortable for indoor use, but throw a sheepskin over the rust-resistant powdercoat finish and you’ve got an insta-cozy spot when extra seating is needed in the living room.

You can’t go wrong with the classic silhouette of the Marais A chair, whether in traditional steel or this flashy fire engine red. As countless French bistros have proved, these chairs are equally at home when dining indoors or al fresco, just make sure not to leave them out in the rain as it could affect the finish. Pick them up on sale now at DWR for $212.50.
