Powder Coating Packs a Punch

I never met a piece of powder coated metal I didn’t like. Maybe I’m just drawn to shiny objects like a barracuda, but I think it’s more because of the finish’s transformative properties. Not only can it change a rusty old car into a super-slick ride, but powder coat a ho-hum patio set or bar cart and all of a sudden you’ve got a vibrant, durable pièce de résistance that works both indoors and out. Here are a few favorite powder coated pieces on the market now, representing every color of the rainbow–and price point of the wallet.

Love the laser cut pattern used in Arktura’s Coral Line. This café table would be particularly perfect set out on a balcony, but all the pieces in the line (including this amazing screen) are equally enchanting. Available through YLiving for $399.

And what better to pull up to that lovely little table than these bright Blancö chairs from Ikea? They’re stackable, easy to clean, and at only $19.99 a piece, easy to love.

The bar cart trend shows no sign of fading, and with this little chartreuse number it’s easy to see why. Stock it with entertaining essentials (re: booze) when guests are over, then simply remove the two trays and fold to stow away. Or keep the good times rolling and leave it out all the time–I certainly would. $69.95 from CB2.

Sacramento design firm Blankblank’s Divide bench is sleek and simple with just enough interest in its shape to make it really stand out. The bench also comes in white and black, but try it in orange for further pop. Available from Rare Device for $2400.
