Local by Design Highlights Bay Area Artists

Author:

The amount of local design talent throughout California is truly vast, but opportunities to see these artists and their work up close and in person–as opposed to over the interwebs–are far harder to come by. That’s why I was quick to RSVP for next week’s Local by Design event here in San Francisco. What’s Local by Design, you say? I’m glad you asked. SF-based home store Zinc Details has partnered with Chronicle Books to put on a showcase featuring–yes, you guessed it–local designers, artists, authors, and other creative folks and the work that they do.

Bay favorites like artist Lisa Congdon, Jason Munn of The Small Stakes, lit journal publishers McSweeney’s, Curiosity Shoppe owners Lauren Smith and Derek Fagerstrom, and more will have work on display. The installation will run from May 1st through June 30th at the Zinc Details Fillmore shop, with the opening reception taking place next Friday, May 7th from 6 to 8PM. Many of the exhibiting artists will be on hand and Sonoma’s Hanna Winery will be providing the free-flowing drinks (woot!), but to make it you’ve got to RSVPto rsvp@zincdetails.com by tomorrow, April 30th. See you there?
