Gifts for Little Design Lovers

I’m not quite sure what was going on nine months ago, but this spring seems especially chock-full of babies. Did you all plan this, or was it a full moon? Whatever the cause, I’ve got a calendar’s worth of baby showers coming up this month, not to mention a few birthdays for the 10-and-under set. And while I could get them that plastic contraption they’ve been asking for, I’m going to use this opportunity to purchase all the adorable kids stuff I’ve seen that, for some crazy reason, is not socially acceptable for an adult woman to buy for herself.

But before you plead for me to “think of the children”, take a look at my list. I don’t think those kids will miss that Hannah Montana make-up kit once they tear into one of these delightful pressies.

For the urban tot, I’ll frame up one of these ABC posters for a nursery wall. Along with the alphabet, little ones get a lesson in alliteration via San Francisco landmarks, like an Alligator escaping Alcatraz. Get it?

Fresh bundles of joy can get cozy in these comfy blankets from Ferm Living. The colors are rich, the patterns fun, and since they’re made of cotton they’ll wash up with ease.

Okay, I really want this for me, but maybe if I gift it to a close relative I can banish the kid occasionally and enjoy some tipi naptime on my own. Or maybe I’ll just have to be that crazy auntie who has a tipi in the corner of their living room… I think I’m okay with that.
