Matthew Barney Film Fest

Friday kicks off a weeklong screening at Nuart Theatre in West L.A. of two films by artist Matthew Barney: The Cremaster Cycle and De Lama Lâmina. If you haven’t yet seen the five-part film epic The Cremaster Cycle, now’s your chance (the whole series isn’t available on DVD); De Lama Lâmina is a collaborative film, created with avant-garde musician Arto Lindsay.

Gold Standard Opening
The Togonon Gallery in downtown San Francisco presents “Gold Standard: Nine Asian/America Modern Artists,” featuring work from Ruth Asawa, Gary Woo and Arthur Okamura. The show opens with a reception on Saturday evening.

Show: REAL ESTATE

Greene and Greene On the Market

Considered to be the only Greene and Greene home still standing within the boundaries of Los Angeles, the Lucy E. Wheeler House is on the market. Designed in 1905, the charming Craftsman has 4 bedrooms and 2.5 baths and— considering the previous owner was an architect specializing in restoration—you probably won’t have to put much “green” into it over the $775,000 asking price. Open this Sunday, 2–3 p.m., but call realtor David Rapsoa to confirm.
