Chef Russell Jackson was inspired by pirates, smugglers and revolutionaries to open his new restaurant, Lafitte—named after the famous 19th-century Louisiana pirate—on a renovated San Francsico pier that dates back to 1918. The innovative menu (a single page of dishes that Russell rewrites daily) is matched by the design: Architect Tom Eliot Fisch restored the dilapidated pier with a loft-like structure (and just won an AIA SF award for it), and designer Michael Guthrie oversaw the interiors.
