Table Setting Inspiration from Sunday Suppers
Author:Abigail StoneSan Francisco has no shortage of delectable food options, but after clicking through the website of Sunday Suppers, a Brooklyn-based cooking class, I’m ready to book a flight solely for their epicurean masterpieces. Everything looks so good! And I’m not just talking about the food. The delicately set tables, bar, and cooking area are all so perfectly composed, one would imagine they must have a prop closet akin to Martha’s.
But on closer inspection you see that a few simple pieces in porcelain, glass, and wood pop up over and over on the Sunday Supper tables. These items are so versatile they can work in just about any style you throw them in, making them just right for the home cook and entertainer.
Get the look: In addition to providing mouth-watering pictures and recipes, Karen Mordechai (the photographer, stylist, and creator of Sunday Suppers) also shares her styling tips and sources. Dishes are often basics from Crate & Barrel and Sur La Table, with a few pops of color occasionally thrown in via ceramics from Mud Australia (available in California from Table Art). You can find the cake stands shown above at Fishs Eddy. Tablecloths are as simple as a roll of butcher paper, burlap, or drape cheesecloth. They’re all easily accessible pieces, and versatile additions to the cupboard of any home.
Now who’s hungry?
