Design Dilemma: Consoles for Small Spaces
Author:Lindsey ShookDear editors,
I need a console table for my entry. It must have a dark finish and be under 55 inches long. Where can I find a table with a lot of style that won’t take up much space?

A console table is an important finishing touch–and it’s a lot of fun to shop for one! It’s a great way to add character to a room when dressed up with flowers or accessories. There are plenty of space-sensitive options, including this folding butler tray from West Elm (above from $149). The raffia tray looks wonderful when paired with the chocolate stand, and it’s perfect for a stack of books, bud vase, and a small dish for your keys.
For a traditional console table that covers all the basics (and, with a bottom shelf, has a bit more storage), make sure to check out Pottery Barn‘s Metropolitan console table ($299). This table features both classic lines and a rustic shape.
Finally, at exactly 55-inches long, Roberto Lazzeroni’s Victoria console ($3,995) from Conran is tailor-made for you situation. The marble top and the tobacco-stain finish would create a “wow factor” at the front door.
