Is This Your Dream House? Raffle Time in Marin
Author:Abigail StoneWe here at California Home + Design can get pretty excited about a good dream home raffle, so when I first saw a commercial for this year’s Dream House contest from Community Action Marin, I took to the website immediately. What would this year’s dwelling look like? Is it worth my hard-earned cash for a ticket (or three)? Here’s what I found…
The house, located in San Rafael, is a behemoth, clocking in at around 3,600 square feet and including 4 bedrooms and 4.5 baths. The exterior looks more or less like your typical McMansion.
And the interior design also leaves something to be desired. Beige carpeting, light wood floors, and ample white walls are not so much offensive as just rather blah, though to their credit dramatic gestures could very well turn off some potential ticket buyers.
But the outdoor area I can most certainly get behind. It’d be worth the price of the $150 ticket for just a summer day or two spent lounging poolside. And, of course, if the house is totally not your taste, opt for the 1.5 million dollar cash prize instead–hard to argue with that.
It’s also hard to argue with the cause. Proceeds benefit local non-profit Community Action Marin and their mission to assist low-income residents with quality daycare, health services, and more. So give them your support by buying a ticket now through February 4th; the earlier you get the ticket, the more bonus drawings you’ll be entered in, including cash prizes and a 2011 Toyota Prius.
