India In the Spotlight
If you don’t know a thing about Indian dance, there are several reasons why that should change this weekend. San Francisco mayor Gavin Newsom just declared today Indian Classical Dance and Music Day, and the Traditions Engaged Festival—a three-day event filled with classical Indian performances and lectures—opens today at YBCA. The festival, celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, will travel to L.A.’s REDCAT Theater for a repeat performance next weekend.

So Crafty
From the practical (sock darning) to the puzzling (satellite headgear), all types of creative crafting will be on display at the opening of Make: Craft at the Otis Collage of Art and Design in L.A. this Saturday. The exhibition includes a series of workshops including “Sewing Rebellion: the Art of Mending 101,” and a high-tech “E-Crafting Workshop.”
