Pasadena Heritage’s Ode to the Craftsman
Author:Abigail StoneI fondly remember falling head over heels in love in my first few weeks at college in Southern California. The object of my affection was light years different than what I was familiar with from my Midwest upbringing: Instead of predictable, this creature was natural, slightly rugged, exposed at times and completely and utterly adorable. Yes, I fell in love with Craftsman-style architecture the second I clapped eyes on it, and unlike other college trysts, my affections have only blossomed with time.
So I’m sorry I can’t head back down near my old school stomping grounds for Pasadena Heritage’s Craftsman Weekend this Friday through Sunday. Now in its 19th year, the annual event includes tours of area houses, walking excursions exploring Pasadena’s many Craftsman-rich neighborhoods, and evening receptions inside some of these architectural gems. There will also be a large exposition going on all weekend at the Pasadena Convention Center, with furniture and decorative arts vendors for Arts & Crafts enthusiasts.
